Here is our very own original contribution to the Christmas song milieu. Although Johnny would argue it isn’t a Christmas song, it is a song about a hard working immigrant father who saved up and got his son a guitar for Christmas. And for those who are not guitar nerds (and are thus wondering about the Japanese guitar reference) there was a time when Japan made very good knock-offs of American style guitars but they were considered cheapies – purchased by those who couldn’t afford an American-made guitar. Over time there has developed a mystique about Japanese guitars being the instrument of the underdog. But at the time they were just affordable. Words and music by Johnny G Mazzei. I’m doing my best Japanese girl-group-inspired vocals. -Vera.
